Spring Equinox – Ostara

March 20, 2017 marks the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere.    A change of seasons.  It’s also the Pagan holiday of Ostara – a celebration of the change from dark to light. This holiday corresponds to the Christian holiday of Easter.

Symbols for Ostara are similar to the symbols used for Easter. Eggs, which symbolize fertility and birth.  Flowers and seeds, also representations of new life and a fresh shift in energy.  A “witchy’ way to decorate for Ostara is to get crystals shaped in the form of eggs. You can find these shaped crystals and stones at most rock shops and witchy woo woo stores. Also online.  Fresh flowers at any time of the year also encourage fresh energy and add a sense of happiness to any space.

There is also going to be a sun sign shift as well.  We will be leaving Pisces and entering the fiery, dynamic energy of Aries.  The first sign of the zodiac, which starts the astrological year.  Aries is energetic, spontaneous, action oriented.  Moving, doing, starting.  Dynamic and sometimes a little impulsive.  If you are trying to start something new in your life (a new exercise or training program, a new diet, a new sleep schedule) now is a good time to start. There’s a nice cosmic push from the universe helping you on your way.

Venus is still retrograde  (in Aries right now) and will turn direct on April 15.  Relationships with people and with money are still up for review right now.

Mercury is in Aries as well.  We might be doing a lot more “speaking our minds” and a little less, “Do you think I said that too harshly?”  Direct communication. And sometimes a little impulsive.

Jupiter is still retrograde in Libra. Jupiter retrograding in the sign of partnerships and love and Venus, the planet of love and romance and the ruler of Libra, is all about taking a closer look at our relationships.  With people and with money.  Things will start to move come June 9, when Jupiter will be direct and Venus will no longer be retrograde.

Spring is here, light is near, bring love and light and cheer…
